Renee Young appeared on EBWF cameras backstage at the American Airlines arena in Miami, Florida. She smiled at the camera and raised the microphone in her hand up to speak.
[RENEE//Young]: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to EBWF Warfare live here in Miami, Florida, just one week after Wrestlemania 16. My guest at this time is a former two time Women's champion, Velvet Sky!
Velvet walked into the camera frame and smiled at Renee Young. Velvet had on a pair of dark camo tights with a black sheer material along the hips of the pants. She also wore a black sleeveless shirt with cuts over the cleavage area. The same sheer black material filled the cut material in the shirt. Her dangly belly button ring rested against the toned muscles of her flat stomach.
[VELVET//Sky]: Thank you Renee, it's great to be here.
[RENEE//Young]: It certainly is. Now Velvet, how are you doing this evening coming off of Wrestlemania 16?
Velvet placed her hands on her hips and let out a long sigh before she answered.
[VELVET//Sky]: If I said I was doing good, I'd be lying.
[RENEE//Young]: Does this possibly have anything to do with you losing to Eva Marie at Wrestlemania for the number one contendership for the Women's championship?
[VELVET//Sky]: Of course it is! I've busted my ass in this company since 2011! That's a hell of a lot longer than most of the women in the back these days. I've proved myself around here more times than I care to even count. What has Eva done? She's done nothing Renee, I'll just answer that for you. We all know it's true. Yeah I get it, she has her high school girlfriends running rough shot around here. The only advantage she has over me is numbers. If it weren't for her two cronies, she'd be nothing in this business.
[RENEE//Young]: Yes, and that may be, however, neither Sasha Banks or Summer Rae show up at Mania to help her win. She won fair and square.
[VELVET//Sky]: Fair and square? No, it all boiled down to pure luck. If Trish Stratus and I weren't busy actually putting on a match together, only for this poor excuse of an athlete to come in at just the right time and steal a pinfall. If anything, it should have been Trish Stratus. So I imagine Trish is pretty upset about it as well. I know I am. Eva knows that she can't hang with us in the ring one on one. She waited for Trish and I to wear each other out. It may have been a smart move on her part, but I think that alone proves that she's unfit to hold any championship. She can't win based on her own merits. If it hadn't been for the other three of us in that match to carry her, she would've caved under the pressure. She'd be a deer in the headlights, unsure of what to do next. Eva isn't built to carry this division, she's just simply a pretty face. You see it all the time, Renee, she's launching her fashion line, starring in movies, gracing the cover of this magazine. It's all she does. Do you think I ever see her in the gym training when there isn't a single camera around? No. She isn't here to be a wrestler. She's here to be famous. I've worked TOO damn hard and for far TOO long to allow someone like her in that ring. It's a spit in the face to me, to Trish, to Angelina, to Natalya. It's disgusting. Every second she gets to clog up space in the locker room is a damn shame. She's nothing more than a bench warmer, who finally got called up to get a push. How far do you honestly think she can run with this on her own? I mean, it appears to me like Sasha and Summer are on vacation or something because nobody's seen or heard from them in months.
[RENEE//Young]: You do bring up a valid point, it will be interesting to see how Eva Marie will handle going for the Women's title on her own, without the Mean Girls around to help her.
[VELVET//Sky]: I'm telling you right now, she's going to fall flat on her face. I think we all just saw how tough of a competitor our Women's champion Natalya is, and someone like Eva Marie... she doesn't have what it takes to get the job done. Trust me. I've gone toe to toe with the champion many, many times. She is no easy feat. and I've also faced Eva Marie a handful of times. She's the exact opposite of Natalya, and most of it boils down to lack of experience. Lack of dedication. Lack of... passion for this business. It's a shame really. Eva has the looks to succeed in this business, but she lacks the love of wrestling. Something all the rest of us here in EBWF live and breathe every day. So... why is she still here? Is she finally going to get serious now that she dyed her hair black to get attention on her again? Doubtful, but we shall see. I just find it hard to respect someone who wastes an opportunity and space on the roster, only to promote themselves outside of this business. Get famous on your own time, sweetheart. If you aren't here because you couldn't imagine doing anything else with your life because the love you have for this industry it greater than anything else, then you are disrespecting every person who ever gave up everything just to make it in this business. Eva's entire career was simple luck. She was noticed only because she picked up a box of bright red hair dye. All red everything is completely and utterly meaningless. It LITERALLY has no meaning aside from her poor choice in hair color. As we've seen over the past few years since her main roster debut, it hasn't gotten her anywhere so to speak. All red everything was always a fluke, just like this whole new "Back in Black" thing she's trying to own now. Oh, you'll be back in black alright. Tonight, when I leave you on your back in that ring with a couple of black eyes. Consider it my welcome back gift, Eva.
Velvet rolled her eyes and waved her hand forward like this match was no big deal.
[VELVET//Sky]: I'm sure Eva is sitting in the locker room right now feeling pretty proud of herself. I mean she had her big win at Mania right? She's on the way to getting her title shot, good for her. She probably thinks that she's going to go out to that ring tonight with new hair and a new attitude and leave me in the dust again? Sorry Eva, guess I'm going to be the bearer of bad news for you. Your luck stopped at Mania and I'm going to prove it to you tonight. You think your cute snide little insults get to me? Diss my hairstyle or my choice in tattoo's like I seek any approval from you. You're basically a walking blow up doll who only knows how to pose for pretty pictures. I'm a total knockout. Not just by looks hunny, but I can be lethal out in that ring. I didn't make it this far in my career for nothing. You're stepping in the ring with a veteran. That ring, is my ring, and tonight I'm going to show you who really runs the yard. In case you're too dense to figure it out, it's me! And I'm about to break you in half. Next!
Velvet shoved the camera man out of her way and walked off towards Gorilla for her match against Eva Marie next. Camera faded to a commercial break.
Scene One; Title goes here.
Things around EBWF had just begun to settle back to normal after a very successful Wrestlemania 16. All eyes would be on this upcoming Warfare, the first show since the big PPV. The hustle and bustle backstage was a much slower pace than things had been leading up to Wrestlemania. Everyone appeared to be quite worn out even after a week of recovery. Once Mania had come and gone, it was almost like the end of the year in wrestling. Everyone started over to build towards the big show next year. EBWF veteran Velvet Sky was not immune to the after effects of Wrestlemania. She felt a certain lag in her step and she couldn't seem to shake it. Sure, she had her own small Wrestlemania moment this year, but even that was soured by the fact that she, of all people, had to put over Eva Marie. Eva Marie. Not even someone who was actually worthy of being put over. Instead, EBWF higher ups agreed that Eva going over would be best for business. Even if veterans like Trish Stratus or Velvet Sky didn't understand, or agree with, the reasonings behind their decisions. To make matters worse, they wanted Velvet to take the pinfall to Eva Marie. Had Velvet really sunk that low? Alexa wasn't forced to take the hit, Velvet was. Had she really slipped so far down in her career that she was simply left to job to Eva Marie?
